Sensys receives order from Finland worth SEK 9 million

09-05-2014

SENSYS Traffic AB, a global supplier of traffic safety solutions, has received today an order from the Finnish Transport Agency regarding systems for the monitoring of train pantographs. The order is worth SEK 9m and implies a substantial expansion of the monitoring of pantographs within the Finnish rail network.

The order embraces the delivery and installation of systems for the monitoring of train pantographs, known as APMS (Automatic Pantograph Monitoring System). Sensys Traffic believes that half of the order will be delivered during autumn 2014 and the remainder during the first half-year 2015.

Sensys delivered the first APMS systems to Finland in 2011. With this order, the Finnish Transport Agency will more than double the number of APMS in their network.

"This strengthens us in our development of railway contracts internationally. The substantial expansion in Finland is an excellent reference for our international customers who are considering an investment in APMS," says Johan Frilund, CEO of Sensys Traffic AB.

Worn-out or damaged pantographs are a common cause of railway catenaries being torn down, which leads to significant delays in rail traffic. APMS identifies pantographs that need to be repaired or replaced.

Sensys has developed APMS in collaboration with the Swedish Transport Administration, which today uses 24 systems. In addition to the installed base of APMS in Sweden, Finland and Norway, Sensys has pilot installations in several major railway countries outside the Nordic region. Discussions are also being held regarding further pilot projects in several other markets. The markets that Sensys currently addresses with APMS are deemed to have a value of approximately SEK 1 billion with a sensor-density corresponding to that found in Sweden today.
