Sensys Gatso USA and Town of Upper Marlboro, US, have mutually agreed to terminate the contract

18-02-2019

Sensys Gatso Group, a global leader in traffic safety solutions, announced on May 28th 2018, through its subsidiary Sensys Gatso USA, a purchase order worth SEK 9 million to provide a speed and red light photo enforcement program to the town of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA. Subject to mutual agreement, the Town of Upper Marlboro and Sensys Gatso USA have agreed to terminate the contract for a managed services enforcement program with immediate effect. The program was not started yet.

During the past eight months, the Prince Georges County and the Maryland State Highway Agency rejected preliminary approvals for the Town to implement a speed camera program. The rejections were based on geographic constraints and questions of jurisdiction. Simultaneously, the two proposed locations for the Towns anticipated red light cameras demonstrated through our traffic studies that such cameras would not be financially viable for a managed services program and the investment needed. Through discussions with the Town and the new evidence at hand, Sensys Gatso and the Town of Upper Marlboro have elected to mutually terminate the contract.
