Sensys Gatso chosen to implement Low Emission Zone enforcement program in the City of Haarlem
01-11-2021
Sensys Gatso Group, a global leader in traffic safety solutions, has been awarded by the City of Haarlem, Netherlands, to implement and operate a Low Emission Zone enforcement project to contribute to a more sustainable city for its 235’000 inhabitants. It is the intention of the City to have zero emission from trucks and vans by 2025 in the appointed zone.
On March 25th the council of Haarlem voted to create a more liveable and sustainable city center for its inhabitants, by implementing a policy to ensure that only trucks and vans that comply with regulations are allowed to enter this zone.
Sensys Gatso will supply the City of Haarlem with Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems as well as with Puls data collection and analytics software that provides connectivity to the city’s existing back office software. To achieve the City's uptime requirements for the installed systems, Sensys Gatso will also provide TRaaS operations and maintenance services.
Sensys Gatso solutions not only help save lives by preventing road crashes – our products and services also contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and lower pollution levels. Emissions from transportation account for about 20% of global carbon emissions, of which road transportation accounts for 72%.
“We are pleased to support the City of Haarlem, home town of Sensys Gatso Netherlands. Our full service solution for efficient automated traffic enforcement is an important step towards a clean and healthy city and a sustainable investment for the future”, says Martin Aikema, Business Development Manager, Sensys Gatso Netherlands.
